100th Anniversary of the replica Rolex Cosmograph Daytona
The 24 Hours of Le Mans, a world-renowned automotive endurance race, was successfully held at the Le Mans Sarthe Circuit in France from June 10th to 11th. The 24 Hours of Le Mans, which celebrates its 100th anniversary this year, has the Swiss luxury watch manufacturer replica Rolex as its official partner and official timekeeper. In addition, a very special Cosmograph Daytona model commemorating the 100th anniversary of the 24 Hours of Le Mans was unveiled, creating a buzz.
In the 2023 Le Mans 24 Hours Race, the Ferrari AF Corse (Ferrari AF Corse), a team of three drivers: James Calado (Great Britain), Antonio Giovinazzi (Italy), and Alessandro Pier Guidi (Italy) The Ferrari AF Corse racing team won the championship with Ferrari’s hypercar 499P. They were awarded a trophy with the 100th anniversary logo engraved on it, as well as a Rolex Cosmograph Daytona Oystersteel black dial model (Ref. 126500LN).
For reference, Rolex has been the main sponsor of the 24 Hours of Le Mans since 2001. This year, Tom Kristensen, a world-class car racer from Denmark and winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans race a total of 9 times, graced the event by specially serving as a Rolex Testimonee.
In addition, Rolex surprisingly unveiled the new Cosmograph Daytona model (Ref. 126529LN) around the time the game closed. The 40mm diameter case and Oyster bracelet are all made of white gold, and a scratch-resistant black Cerachrome bezel is used. The tachymeter scale and the number ‘100’ are accented with red to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans Race. It contains a commemorative meaning.
It has a reverse-panda style with a clear contrast of white registers (counters) on a black background and adopts the so-called ‘Exotic’ dial design seen in the early Daytona of the 1960s, revealing a visible difference from the current model. It is expected to receive an enthusiastic response from Daytona fans as the vintage dial design of the iconic model, known among collectors as the Paul Newman Daytona (Ref. 6239) and boasting a splendid auction record, has been adopted for a long time.
The movement is equipped with a new in-house automatic chronograph caliber 4132, succeeding the previous 4131, which guarantees a power reserve of approximately 3 days (72 hours). Although there is no difference in performance, the caliber name has been changed while exposing the movement through the sapphire crystal case back. This is quite a contrast to the ice blue dial platinum version previously introduced during the replica Watches & Wonders period, which adopted a see-through back while still using the 4131 caliber name.
4131 Unlike the regular steel version, it uses a yellow gold rotor and incorporates Rolex’s latest technologies, including the unique Chronergy escapement, blue Parachrome balance spring, and Paraflex shock absorber. It maintains a daily tolerance range of -2/+2 seconds and its performance is proven by Superlative Chronometer certification.
Rolex’s new Cosmograph Daytona (Ref. 126529LN), commemorating the 100th anniversary of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, is not a limited edition with an exact quantity, but due to the nature of the product, it is a special edition that is only presented over a certain period of time, and the retail price has not been disclosed separately.
